Deepcool PX850G PSU Review

The Deepcool PX850G ahieves good overall performance and offers ATX v3.0 and PCIe 5.0 compatibility. Its exterior design is unique, but it won’t be appealing to all users.

The Deepcool PX850G is included in my best ATX v3.0 & PCIe 5.0 PSU picks article.

After the PX1200G and PX1000G reviews, I only had one unit left to review, the PX850G. Like the rest members of the family, the latter is ATX v3.0 and PCIe 5.0 ready since it uses the same CWT platform as its big brothers, with the code name CSZ. This platform is prevalent in today’s PSU market, used in the Thermaltake GF3 models with up to 1200W max power, the Montech Titan Gold line, and the NZXT C1200. The PX850G has a Cybenetics Gold rating in efficiency and a Cybenetics A- (25-30 dB[A]) in noise. It loses a level of efficiency compared to the 1000 and 1200W models, which achieve Cybenetics Platinum, but it has a better noise rating.

The Deepcool PX850G has normal dimensions, measuring 160mm in length. It only uses Japanese capacitors for increased reliability, and the Hong Hua fluid dynamic fan also plays a role in this.

  1. Did you notice any coil whine with this PSU? I bought a Corsair Rm850x and it has a slight steam whistle type noise even while idle.

      1. Oops I meant the Rm850e.

Is coil whine generally common amongst most PSUs? I noticed that the capacitors on the Rm850e are non-japanese, could that be a contributing factor?

        Thank you

        1. in general for me, since I have lots of test systems, coil whine has to do mostly with the graphics card in use and the current use (e.g. game menu or desktop)
