Deepcool PX850G PSU Review

Box & Bundle

This sample didn’t come in a proper box, so I had to use two stock images.

Product Photos

The PSU has normal dimensions, and the fan grille is not restricted, allowing for high airflow. On the front side, square perforations are used instead of the typical honeycomb style. On the same side, besides the colored power switch, we also find a button for toggling on/off the PSU’s semi-passive mode.

Cables

Modular Cables
Description Cable Count Connector Count (Total) Gauge In Cable Capacitors
ATX connector 20+4 pin (600mm) 1 1 18AWG No
4+4 pin EPS12V (700mm) 2 2 18AWG No
6+2 pin PCIe (650mm) 3 3 18AWG No
12+4 pin PCIe (650mm) (600W) 1 1 16-24AWG No
SATA (500mm+150mm+150mm+150mm) 2 8 18AWG No
4-pin Molex (500mm+150mm+150mm+150mm) 1 4 18AWG No

Two EPS connectors on dedicated cables, three PCIe 6+2 pin on the same amount of cables, a single 12VHPWR set at 600W, eight SATA, and four 4-pin Molex connectors. The number of SATA connectors is adequate; the same goes for the 4-pin Molex connectors. Lastly, the distance between all peripheral connectors is ideal at 150mm.

  1. Did you notice any coil whine with this PSU? I bought a Corsair Rm850x and it has a slight steam whistle type noise even while idle.

      1. Oops I meant the Rm850e.

Is coil whine generally common amongst most PSUs? I noticed that the capacitors on the Rm850e are non-japanese, could that be a contributing factor?

        Thank you

        1. in general for me, since I have lots of test systems, coil whine has to do mostly with the graphics card in use and the current use (e.g. game menu or desktop)
