Device Analysis
The design has been slightly revamped with vents on the top, a small change on the magnetic front cover, and the plastic cover is now removable to access the NVMe slots. It can be easily detached by simply removing four screws on the back of the device, sliding the cover to the “open” position, and lifting it off the unit. To do that, you first have to remove the HDD caddies.
This is a nice segue to the build quality of the HDD caddies, which, on first impression, were rough. When we removed and replaced them, we felt like they were about to break. After a couple more ins and outs, they have loosened up and feel better, but we would like to see a mechanism that would give the user confidence and feel more robust.
The NVMe slots are on a separate expansion card in a confined space (when closed). No heatsinks are included, and maybe only a small one could fit in such a tight space, but given the single lane dedicated to each one, none of them will work too hard.
On the front left side, from the top to the bottom, you will find the power button, eight LEDs, a USB copy button, and the front USB port. The LEDs indicate the power state, network activity, system activity, USB activity, and drive activity, with one LED for each of the four SATA drives. The USB copy button is a very nice feature, allowing you to quickly and easily dump your files from a USB stick or drive. The fast USB 3.2 Gen 2 speed will not be a bottleneck.
The IR receiver, concealed in the front, is intended for use with the Asustor remotes sold separately. A mobile application can also fulfill this purpose, which we will discuss later.
You’re complaining about software??? It’s based on Linux so go complain to them about their lil OS kit that still has only 1/3 to 1/2 of a complete GUI when we’re almost 1/4 of the way through the 21rst century. I use my NAS for storage, not computing, not transcoding, just storage since that’s what it was intended to do, even says so in the dam name, Netwok Attached Storage or did you forget that lil acronym? You seem really concerned about the piece of cardboard the product came in, maybe you should do cardboard reviews only, dedicating an entire page of your review to a piece of cardboard that surrounds the product is just stupid it has nothing to do with performance which is why I came not to browse some anime gallery. Needless to say not impressed with your lil article and won’t be returning just not worth it with that type of content.
Thanx for your comment. Any feedback is appreciated, but you are a bit over the edge, I think. By being ironic you don’t get anything. The reviewer added anything he believed it was worth to mention. If you dont like sth u could write it, in a formal way. It would have the same impact, believe me. Now, if u dont like the content, u are not obligated to stay or read anything in this site. There are countless other sites to visit, and might like your harsh comments as well, so feel free. I wish u the best.
