Hello, is NZXT C1200 worse than NZXT C1000?
I was looking the category of 1001W-1200W but didn’t see it. I can’t decide between C1000 and C1200, on Amazon is around 20$ of difference in my region, and I’m wondering if C1200 has worse quality than C1000.
1000W PSUs have their own category, are not mixed with the higher capacity (or lower) ones. C1200 is pretty good. For 20$ difference get it.
What would elevate this “best of” selection / make it much more useful:
1. Best of Noise – esp. in SFF builds, that don’t allow for fancy noise dampening, having things like an extremely annoying fan noise is .. absolutely the worst situation.
2. Cables MATTER. Esp. the flexibility vs. rigidity.
Compare eg. Corsair SF NON-L 750+ with eg. Seasonic SGX series – sure, nice cables for the bare application, BUT you do not use them inside a spacious 30+ L case. Very rigid, inflexible cables are the utmost horror.
Then there are PSUs like the Fractal Design Ion+ SFX: Albeit an SFX-L unit, it comes with really good, flexible cables, despite the fact that they’re looking just like the ones for your run-of-the-mill modular ATX PSU. So, great cables, but shitty looks.
Polar opposite: FSP Dagger 850 SFX – all reviews be like: Great PSU. BUT NOBODY tells you that the cables are the most godawful thing ever happened to a modular PSU. I got non-modular, 80+ bronze units with still much better quality cables …
and so on.
So, looking at the PSUs in terms of cable quality, and thus, a best of, would be much more helpful, too.
I totally feel you about quality, but flexibility isn’t among my top concerns, which is what their conductor’s material is about. This is why we started recently “destroying” the cables to find out what type of conductor they use: CCA, tinned copper, or something else?
Hi Aris, between XPG Core Reactor II 1200W and Deepcool PX1300P (both same price) which one you recommend?
Most likely the 1300W unit
Hi! Been on your website the last 2 days and I have been really loving the process of learning. But im worried about something. I have been looking for a good 1000W plus psu. In my área I can get the Rog Strix 1000W platinum (I love it) but Im worried about the high inrush currents and the OEM made by great wall (would love some seasonic) (In this moment I own a rog thor 850w p (from 2018). What World you recomend? I algo have seen the Rm1000e from corsair but the soldering is kinda mid quality as you mention
Would **
Also, my system is a ASUS PRIME RTX 5070Ti with a Ryzen 7 9800x3d. I know my 850w Atx 2.2 works perfectly buy Im an entushiast and would love to upgrade in a few years.
Thank you 🙂
It can be higher Wattage. I just want something very good with los inrush currents and good quality components
Hi Aris,
Many thanks for the review. I am just curious what do you think about upgrading from Corsair HX1500i (2022) ATX 2.52 version? Is it a waste of money or a viable option? BTW It would be used for powering my MSI Suprim 5090 and 9800X3D. (Planning to upgrade to 6090 once it is available or maybe new RDNA option) Corsair has been pumping out upgraded versions lately particularly for HX series PSUs. Many thanks in advance for your help.
As long as it works ok for your system, I don’t see a reason to upgrade it at this point.
Hi Aris, based on your suggestion, I bought the XPG Core Reactor II 1200W.
On the box it says atx 3.1 and 12V-2×6, but when I opened it, on the power supply says 12vhpwr. Do you think I should return it and get another one ?
Hello. Amd Ryzen 7 7800 x3d, PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 XTX Hellhound 24GB DDR6, RAM KINGSTON 64GB 6000MT (dual). Which power supply, like 1000w, can include 12v.
Corsair RM1000x, NZXT C1000 Gold, Montech Titan Gold etc.
In my country, I have the Gigabyte GP-UD750GM PG5, MSI MAG A750GL PG5, and Cooler Master GX3 750W ATX 3.0 available, all around $150.
I could import the Corsair RM750x (2024) for a total cost of $180.
Could you recommend one?
Thanks!!
I would go for the Corsair RM750x
Ok. Muchas gracias por la respuesta!!! También puedo importar la be quiet! Pure power 750w 13M atx 3.1. Sería otra opción a un poco menor precio que la Corsair, aunque no es una diferencia significativa. ¿Sigue siendo mas recomendable la RM 750x?
The Pure power 750w 13M is also a very good PSU.
Hi Aris,
which PSU do you recommend for Ryzen 7950X3D and MSI RTX 4090 Suprim?
Thank you 🙂
A good 1000W one will be fine. E.g. Corsair RM1000x
Terrific works, Aris. Best overall budget 650w PSU around $60?
prices change contantly and new offers emerge daily, so it is hard for me to suggest something based on price. I cannot follow closely pricing schemes, sorry.
I understand. Is PL650D a good choice in this regard? Or would suggest something else? It’s going to power a 5800x and a 3070. Thanks.
For this system it will be fine!
Hi Aris, between corsair RM850X and nzxt C850 (both atx3.1 and same price) which one you recommend?
I would go for the RM850x most likely
Thank you for the reply Aris!
The purepower 13 review hyperlink has the wrong target.
That is the 1000w.
Hi Aris,
I have a Asus 5090 Tuf and a i7 14700k. What would your top pick be for a 1200 watt psu if you had to choose? I can’t make a decision 😵💫
One of the top three in my charts at 1200W 🙂
Which one of those 3 would be your top pick though? That’s what I can decide.
Are there any PSUs these days that have built-in Surge Supressor, power spike protection, or will that always have to be external such as a good surge protector plug strip?
Almost all PSUs have MOVs, for surge protection.
Hello,
Where is the Corsair HX1500i power supply review (ATX3.1 / 2024 (model CP-9020261) or 2025 (model CP-9020309) version)?
You provide results in tables and rankings for this power supply, but the only review of this power supply on your website is of the first version from 2022, which isn’t even an ATX3.X power supply.
FOR EXAMPLE
The 1200W version (2025 model cp-9020307) is reviewed here: https://hwbusters.com/psus/corsair-hx1200i-atx-v3-1-2025-psu-review/11/
The 1500W v1 ATX2.53 version from 2022 is reviewed here: https://hwbusters.com/psus/corsair-hx1500i-review/
So why do you list the results of the ATX3.1 model (2024 or 2025) in your rankings?
I don’t have to review something before I add it to these graphs as far as there is data for it already available in Cybenetics.
Thanks for the reply.
So, I have another question (I’ve already contacted Cybenetics, but haven’t received a response. Maybe You can help).
The Cybenetics report (https://www.cybenetics.com/evaluations/psus/2099/) of the Corsair HX1500i power supply is dated on December 7, 2022. The report includes a graphic stating that the power supply meets the ATX3.1 requirements. The report doesn’t even specify which model was tested (probably the Gen 3 from 2023 – cp-9020261????).
This is a bit strange, as they updated the 1200W version (HX1200i) in their database, indicating it’s the 2025 version (cp-9020307).
My question is: according to the Cybenetics report (from 2022), the starting INRUSH CURRENT for the HX1500i model (but which generation, model???) is 91.12 Amps, and for the HX1200i model (2025) (https://www.cybenetics.com/evaluations/psus/2733/) 11.12 Amps…..
Isn’t that too much for a 1500W model? Why is there such a big difference between the 1200W and 1500W models? How can I find out what the “inrush current” parameter is for the 2025 model (cp-9020309)?
Cybenetics replied to you already. I know first hand. Please post any follow up questions on our discord.
Lately I have been seeing reccomendations for the Montech Century ii gold psus. Any info on it? 850w/1050w/1200w

Where is the review of Lian Li Edge 850W?
It has interesting design and has excellent scores even topping Transient Response.
I don’t remember the reason I haven’t reviewed it, sorry.
Hi Aris, first of all thank you for your efforts. Which one of these units do you recommend?
The price of these 3 is the same in my region.
Lian Li EG1200G
XPG Core Reactor II 1200W
Gamer Storm PX1200g
XPG most likely.
Why is there 2 Corsair HX1200i(ATX 3.1) in the list. What is the difference of those units?
It’s probably a 2025 rerelease with extra ports for Dual 12V-2×6 cables.
UK part number for 2024(?) version is CP-9020281-UK and for 2025 version it’s CP-9020307-UK
I made this video because of you Aris.
