Enermax Revolution D.F.12 850W PSU Review

The Enermax Revolution D.F.12 850W is the smallest, in size, ATX v3.1 PSU in today’s market, measuring only 122mm in depth. It promises tolerance at up to 235% power excursions, although the ATX spec requires up to 200%, which is an overkill already for today’s GPUs.

The Enermax Revolution D.F.12 850W is included in my best ATX v3.x & PCIe 5.x PSU picks article.

The Enermax Revolution D.F.12 850W defines downsizing since it looks more like an SFX-L unit than an ATX one, thanks to its super short 122mm length. According to Enermax, the PSU’s small size offers big benefits: it easily fits into smaller chassis, more space for cable management, and extra volume out of the airflow’s way. I can agree with the first two but not for the last since the PSU’s airflow is severely impacted by the small PCB size, while in most chassis, there is a dedicated PSU compartment, so the PSU’s size doesn’t affect the chassis’ airflow. I am not a big fan of compact PSUs because, in most cases, they are noisy.

This PSU also has a Cybenetics Platinum rating and a Cybenetics Standard+ (35-40 dB[A]) noise level. The 120mm double ball bearing fan has to spin at high speeds to remove the heat from the PSU’s internals, so it doesn’t operate quietly. The unit is made by RSY, a good OEM that is used to handle production for other major OEMs, including Super Flower and Seasonic. It seems RSY doesn’t want to only help in the manufacturing process of other OEM models but desires to enter more into the PSU market with its own platforms. I am looking forward to having another competent OEM in the field.
