AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT & RX 7700 XT Performance, Power Analysis & Noise Output

AMD Infinity Cache 2nd Generation

AMD’s RDNA 3 utilizes the 2nd generation of Infinity cache. The latter is a cache level that alters how data is delivered in GPUs. The cache hierarchy balance has been optimized for the ideal Infinity and L2 cache mix to keep everything moving at the highest possible efficiency. The global cache allows fast data access and is a massive bandwidth amplifier, enabling high-performance bandwidth and increased power efficiency.

Ray Accelerators

The unified AMD RDNA 3 compute units utilize raytracing acceleration with several enhancements. Raytracing acceleration receives multiple hardware and software optimizations in this generation, keeping pace with the needs in real-time rendering raytracing workloads. AMD employed methods to skip parts of the acceleration structure during traversal to execute the workload faster and more efficiently. An enhanced cache structure allows more rays to be in flight for faster performance.

Media Engine

The RX 7600 features a new media engine that adds hardware-accelerated support for AV1 encoding at up to 8K60, bringing increased quality at the same bitrate, thus reducing the file size. There are also some features for live streamers, which, according to AMD, improve both performance and quality.
