Super Flower Zillion M705 Case Review: Thermal & Noise Damping/Output Evaluation

Epilogue

The initial impression of the Super Flower Zillion  M705 is positive, as the quality of the exterior panels is good, and the tempered glass feels solid. The four included ARGB fans and the preinstalled controller are a very appealing combination, especially for new builds. Plenty of mesh filters provide ample airflow, while there are provisions for even more fans and large AIO coolers. We did notice some slight usability problems, which are expected since the chassis was not SF’s field till now. Some of our remarks regarding installation and other issues are the following:

  • The GPU’s installation on the PCIe brackets was a bit problematic, leaving a small gap when trying to screw the GPU in place.
  • One of the mainboard’s tray preinstalled mounting pegs was misaligned.
  • With E-ATX mainboards, the cable pass-through grommets will be entirely blocked. The side fan cuts could be removed to move these grommets further to the right, solving this issue.
  • SF’s lit logo should take power from a SATA connector instead of a 4-pin Molex one.
  • Some users might not like the fact that you have to screw the 3.5″ drives in place instead of a toolless installation.
  • The front panel requires increased force to detach, which might scare some users.
  • Although the chassis supports long GPUs, no anti-sagging solution is still included in the bundle.
  • A removable front (and, why not, top) fan bracket would make the installation much easier.

The Super Flower M705 is available on Newegg for 90 dollars for the version without fans and 110 dollars for the version with the four pre-installed fans. Since you pay only five dollars each, you should not expect them to be of extra-high quality.

Some smaller chassis you could buy within the same budget instead of the M705 are the following:

  • Lian Li Lancool 216RX
  • Lian Li Lancool-205
  • Fractal Design Pop Air RGB

The Corsair 4000D Airflow is larger than the above chassis and has dimensions close to the M705’s. The Antec DF700 FLUX is another chassis with similar dimensions, a lower price, and five 120mm pre-installed fans. Competition in the 90-110 dollar price region is quite tough.

The Super Flower M705 is a worthy first attempt by this brand in the chassis section, and with some more work, it can be notably better. Moreover, it offers good noise-damping performance, but its pre-installed fans are quite noisy, so you must keep them at low speeds to avoid the annoyance.
