After the HXi Shift, Corsair released the more affordable RMx Shift series which consists of three members with capacities ranging from 750W to 1000W. This line is ideal for users wanting the side-mounted modular panel, yet don’t want to pay the premium price of the HXi Shift models.
The Corsair RM750x Shift is (or will be) included in my best ATX v3.x & PCIe 5.x PSU picks article.
I’ve already reviewed Corsair’s new HXi Shift models, built by CWT, and now it’s time to take a look at the latest RMx Shift units, manufactured by Great Wall. Corsair highlights several key features for this series, and I’ve listed the most relevant ones below—stripped of any unnecessary marketing fluff.
- Easy-Access Connection Position: Modular connections on the side of the PSU mean easier access for your cables and simpler, cleaner cable management
- Native 12V-2×6 GPU Cable
- Fully Modular Connectors: CORSAIR Type-5 PSU cables
- Debossed PVC Cable Kit
- 140mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing Fan
- Zero RPM Fan Mode Support: At low and medium loads, the cooling fan switches off entirely for near-silent operation
- Fan Speed Knob: Users have the freedom to adjust the fan speed to their own needs
- Cybenetics Gold Certified [They are actually Platinum, but Corsair decided to “downgrade” them]
- Intel ATX 3.1 Certified [Verified by Cybenetics]
- 105°C-Rated 100% Japanese Capacitors
- Ten-Year Warranty
As you may notice, Corsair markets these units as Cybenetics Gold, even though they actually achieved a Platinum efficiency rating. To keep its PSU lineup consistent, Corsair chose not to use the Platinum badge. According to Cybenetics’ policy, a brand may use any badge up to the level a product has officially earned—meaning “downgrades” are allowed, but never “upgrades.” Naturally, no company can display a Cybenetics badge unless the product has been tested and certified for it. Typically, this should be the case for all certification agencies. Unfortunately, some still don’t care about “fake” badges, leaving users vulnerable to shady brand tactics (see the Gamdias example).
