The Thermaltake Toughpower PT 1200 is (or will be) included in my best ATX v3.x & PCIe 5.x PSU picks article.
The Thermaltake Toughpower PT line consists of three members with capacities ranging from 850W to 1200W. All are Cybenetics Platinum-certified and also carry ATX v3.1 spec-compliance certification from the same agency. Thermaltake used Japanese caps to boost the marketing image of this new PSU line, along with a hydraulic fan and a fully modular cable design.
All PT models have a 40°C temperature rating for continuous full-load operation, which is a bit low for a high-end platform. Nonetheless, I will totally ignore the 40°C temperature rating and exceed 45°C in my tests. Normal testing is not that stressful since I keep the load for 4 minutes. Still, during the protection features evaluation, I apply loads well above the nominal loads at high operating temperatures, pushing the platform far beyond its limits until the protection features intervene to save it, or until it blows sky-high.
