SilverStone Hela 2500Rz ATX v3.1 PSU Review

Back in the day the strongest badass PSUs could deliver up to 1600W. There was only one Super Flower Leadex that went a little above, at 2000W, which in essense was just an “overclocked” 1600W unit. These days are gone, with GPUs becoming more power-hungry with each generation, so we started seeing now PSUs with 2.5kW or higher capacitites. In today’s review I will evaluate SilverStone’s monster, the Hela 2500Rz, which can actually deliver more than 2500W!

The SilverStone Hela 2500Rz is (or will be) included in my best ATX v3.x & PCIe 5.x PSU picks article.

What is wrong with the IT industry, someone might wonder? Why do PSUs tend to get stronger and stronger from the moment the newer designs allow for higher efficiency? The PSUs are not to blame here, but rather the power-hungry IT components, such as GPUs and CPUs, which require more power with each generation to deliver higher performance. Back in the day, when any PSU over 500-600W was considered powerful, most of us couldn’t even imagine that GPUs would exceed 600W of power consumption, and that some CPUs would be over 450W even without major overclocking, just fully unlocked and with their boost algorithms active. As it seems, we live in an era where, for performance to receive a notable boost, increased amounts of energy are required; therefore, we have to install mini electricity factories inside our chassis, called power supply units (PSUs). At Computex 2025, I saw desktop power supplies (PSUs) reaching maximum power of 3300W (Super Flower), 3200W (Seasonic), and 3000W (Asus). This is getting out of hand, as the maximum output that a standard 230V socket can deliver is close to 3500W, assuming it can handle a maximum continuous current of 15A.

The SilverStone Hela 2500Rz that I will evaluate today has a maximum power output of 2500W, as stated on paper. Still, as you will see later in this review, its OPP allows for significantly more power, which, in my opinion, is not advisable. This unit is Platinum certified in efficiency by Cybenetics. Its expected price is around $600 in the US market, which is fair given its capacity.
