The MSI MPG A850GS has two 12V-2×6 sockets, which is clear overkill for its capacity. Unlike its 1000W sibling, it has several 6+2 pin cables/connectors, so it will be compatible with AMD’s graphics cards.
The MSI MPG A850GS ATX v3.1 is (or will be) included in my best ATX v3.x & PCIe 5.x PSU picks article.
MSI recently introduced three new PSUS, the high-end MEG Ai1600T PCIE5, the MPG A1000GS, and the MPG A850GS. I have reviewed the two first and will deal with the last in this review.
The MPG series belongs to MSI’s high-end product portfolio, aiming at enthusiast users and mostly gamers who, besides good performance, also want a sleek design. Like any of them will look at the PSU, but this is what MSI states on the product’s page. CWT makes the PSU and utilizes a semi-digital platform with an MCU controlling the APFC converter. I will dive more into this during the part analysis.
The MSI MPG A850GS ATX v3.1 has a price of 150 dollars, which is fair for its specs, but I will have the complete picture after I finish all the tests.
