BenQ IdeaCam S1 Pro USB Webcam & Magnifying Glass Review

Build Quality & Design

The camera’s body is of good plastic quality and seems durable for everyday video shooting from your office. If you dropped it from your desk, I doubt it would take the fall and live to shoot another video. I liked the camera’s anthracite grey metal color, which is an excellent addition to any desk since it is minimal and modern. A prudent detail I immediately noticed is the braided USB cable connecting the camera to the selected device, PC, or Laptop.

Around the camera, there is built-in ring light to assist in using the macro lens. There are two buttons on the camera’s upper part on a rubber stripe. The first one turns on the LED rings, and the rear one freezes the frame while in handheld mode. Additionally, a built-in noise-canceling microphone reduces the ambient noise and provides better audio to the listener.

Mounting

Mounting the camera to any monitor is a breeze since the mounting mechanism has an embedded lever that turns clockwise and secures the mounting means to the monitor through a weak magnet. When you have two good contact points, lock down the hinge with the small attached lever. Make sure to have the upper part at a straight horizontal line. On the flat horizontal bar is a plastic protruding part with a 90o degrees vertical angle, on which the camera secures from an aperture under its body.
