Corsair ML 120 PRO RGB Fan Review

Epilogue

The Corsair ML 120 PRO RGB is a highly popular fan, which might not be available for much longer, given that it was listed as out of stock in Corsair’s shop. It doesn’t provide high airflow since its max speed is relatively low, but it performs well in static pressure, given its speed. In the normalized noise tests and, more specifically, at 20 dBA, the ML bearing and the fan’s design don’t allow for high speeds, but still, performance is decent, while power consumption is low. There is a speed boost at 25 dBA normalized noise output, but the fan is still below the pack’s middle. This is not the case for airflow, where the fan scores second behind the more affordable Arctic P12 PWM PST. This Arctic fan doesn’t stop to impress me! The ML120 Pro is in the middle of the static-pressure graph, with the aforementioned Arctic fan ahead again. The highest static pressure at 25 dBA from low-speed fans, up to 2000 RPM, belongs to the Alphacool Apex Stealth Metal, which has a high price tag and low airflow.

The Corsair ML120 Pro RGB is expensive, and although it is among the most popular fans on Amazon, it failed to impress me. Yes, it has a top-quality bearing, and its overall build quality is high, but performance-wise is beaten by the much more affordable Arctic P12 PWM PST. Some users complain that the latter has increased noise at mid speeds, which can be the case due to lower production standards compared to more expensive fans. Part tolerances are higher than the ML120 Pro, which uses an ML bearing and requires much tighter production control, so remember that it is not only performance that you should focus on but also reliability and low-noise operation through time.

All in all, I think it is time for Corsair to update the ML120 Pro ARGB fan, and this is probably what will happen. In this price range, there are better options available, and if you have space for a 30mm fan, you should look into the Phanteks T30-120, which is among the best, if not the best, 120mm fans.
