I have reviewed the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 280 and 480, which left an excellent impression on me. In this review, I will look at the Liquid Freezer III 360mm, which uses 120 mm fans instead of 140 mm fans. I wonder whether this fan change will affect performance.
The Liquid Freezer III has an upgraded cold plate and VRM cooler. The latter uses a fan installed at the top of the block, which sends air around the CPU socket and helps cool down the mainboard’s VRMs.
Arctic offers an LGA1700 contact frame in the cooler’s bundle to replace the stock one. The stock one locks the CPU to the socket at two points, leading to possible uneven pressure points that affect the contact surface with the cooler’s block. Arctic states that thanks to the provided mounting frame for LGA1700 sockets, the CPU is evenly locked to the socket, ensuring better contact with the cooler’s block. Indeed, Arctic’s mounting frame does a better job than the stock one, and the CPU’s power consumption readings clearly show this.

The performance of the 360 is only lower on the LG 1700. It turns out that there is a good chance that the frame pressure provided by Arctica is random.
