Corsair Frame 4500X Chassis Review

Epilogue

The Frame 4500X is a refined modern chassis with good looks and high-quality parts and construction. It’s not a groundbreaking new design, but a very well thought-out chassis with customization and cooling at its core, building on the bones of the 4000D and evolving them.

The curved tempered glass panel covering the sides and front is a very high-quality piece that gives the chassis a contemporary look that other cases lack. Being a Frame series chassis, you can literally strip it down to its bare frame. The motherboard tray, the removable side fan/radiator mount, and the rotatable expansion slot panel all contribute to its ease of building and customization.

Once more, the iCue system, with the hub and three fans, is straightforward to install and use, but going with the standard PWM option is a great way to save some cash and still get a premium chassis. The non-iCue version costs $70 less, leaving you more to spend on a standard fan hub of your choice and maybe additional fans.

As tested, the 4500X showed excellent noise-damping characteristics, which is worth highlighting. It is among the few chassis that do not act as an amplifier at any point within the mid-range frequencies tested.

Talking about competition for this type of chassis will be pretty short, as there aren’t many other cases with this type of glass panel. The first one of this kind we reviewed was the Montech King 95 Pro, followed by the FSP M580 Plus and the Gamemax N80. Corsair is clearly marketing the Frame 4500X as a premium product, and the price matches. At the time of writing, there’s an ongoing Amazon offer on the RS-R model, priced at $174.99, which reflects a $15 discount.

The Achilles heel is the missing dust filter on top, and maybe more storage space. The I/O cables are also a bit too exposed for our liking.

Since the 4500X is the best curved-glass tower we’ve seen so far, with good noise-damping characteristics, it earns our Recommended badge.
