  1. How actually loud is XPG core reactor 2? I’m looking for a 850w PSU but in my country the choice is pretty limited. Basically it is between Montech Titan Gold or XPG core reactor 2 or its VE version. Be quiet is absurdly high price, almost 270$, and Corsair and Thermaltake aren’t even available.
I’ve read all the reviews and I see that both Core reactor 2 and Montech titan gold are very good performance-wise, However users report Montech has very bad unbendable cables that are hard to manage in a case.

  2. Hello Aris. Thanks for the tests. I’m trying to figure out what Super Flower has done because I see you have their Leadex VII XP as being 3rd overall in performance in 1000W category but their Pro version in your review is only average performance and has a higher noise output. On Newegg, Super Flower actually has models called XP Pro so it’s confusing as to how they will perform. I’m only considering the XP over the top rated FSP Hydro Ti Pro because Super Flower has universal connectors now and no 12V connector so when the standard changes in the future (which I’m sure it will with all the issues) as you said with PSUs that have 8 pin connections with 8 pin to 12V cables, it will be easier to adapt to the new standard without having to change the platform/connector. I’m just wondering if the XP Pro performs like the XP you reviewed and rated highly.

    1. To be frank, SF’s model number schemes also confuse me! I told them to make it better since they sometimes re-use model numbers!!

SF told me recently, when I asked them, that Pro is actually XP!!

  3. Hello,
I have a Cooler Master MWE 1250w GOLD, and recently it’s 12vhpwr connector on the PSU side completely melted even though it wasn’t loose or damaged as I was using it for 1.5 years. 12vhpwr cable also melted from GPU side but GPU connector is without any damage.

Now I would like to buy a new PSU and my only two choices are Corsair HX1200i and MSI Ai-P 1300i. I would like to know how these two stand and perform. I have heard few things about MSI Ai-P 1300i is that it blasted off or stop working for few users on reddit but reviews are rock solid overall and some says it has a fan curve issue as well causing overheat, is any of that true?
Regarding Corsair HX1200i I am concerned about its reliability and 2x8pin 12vhpwr connector, many users have stated that their corsair failed on them and its failure rate is up there.

Which one is better to consider buying for my RTX 4090 as I don’t want to make the wrong purchase and “these are my only two options” but I can also consider NZXT C1200.

    1. Wow, this is crazy! In my opinion, the HX1200i’s 2x 8-pin connector is safer than the native 12V-2×6 or 12VHPWR. We have checked many Corsair units; I don’t know why they complain about reliability. We haven’t noticed anything out of order so far in our samples, and we do heavy testing on them (so does Corsair, as far as I know, since Jonnyguru is there supervising PSUs).

NZXT C1200 is also a good option.

      1. So, you would recommend HX1200I over MSI AI 1300P? If the case isn’t related to 12vhpwr cable, then which one would you recommend to me between those two?

        Thanks

  4. Cooler Master X Silent Edge Platinum 850 seems to be listed on many categories, but I can’t find the actual review of it, nor is it listed on this page. Can you add the review and the link to it as it is missing.

Thanks for the great PSU reviews!

  5. Hi, happy I came across your site! Looks like you know your PSUs!

Question: On the Corsair RMx 1000 review it said that it’ll be added to the best 3.x PSU article, but I’m not seeing it – was it updated and taken out? Is it as good as top other PSUs for a system with a 4090? It’s the only brand that is being sold in my local BestBuy and I’d prefer to get it over ordering from online vendors.

    Thanks!

      1. hi. witch is better ,,Corsair RM1000x ;2024;or MSI MPG A1000G or be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 1000W
IF I understood the chart Corsair wins

  6. In the 750-800W list I would have expected a test of the be quite! Straight Power 12, it’s recommended in many good boards but wasn’t tested here at all.

Only the cheapest model was tested, which no wonder, fails in many aspects, as it’s the cheapest which you can buy out of their lineup.

  7. Hi Aris,

I’m thinking about going with Seasonic Prime TX-1300, would you agree it’s a solid option for the following build? I’m in the United States btw. The TX-1300 seems to be really good in the charts
    9800X3D CPU
    5090 OC Astral
    NZXT Kraken Elite 360 AIO
    Crucial T705 2TB/Samsung 990 Pro 4TB
    64GB Corsair Titanium Dominator RAM

  8. hi, i need to buy a power supply for my new build:

    9800x3d and rtx 5090

what do you recommend between seasonic noctua edition and asus rog thor 3?

or alternatively something else that is comparable to them in terms of efficiency and silence?

    thanks

  9. Hey,

    thanks for the great article.

You have a typo on the 1000W power supplies page “Highest Average Efficiency (1230V)”.

    Regards
    JR

    1. Hi! My main PCs are not for games, since I barely have any time to play games anymore 🙁 So I use a Corsair SFX unit in my main PC. In my previous PC I had a Corsair RM750x. In my test PCs I currently use Seasonic Vertex GX-1200 mostly because I had several of them (and I needed to have exactly the same PSU on all of my test benches). Truth be told, they never gave me any trouble. In general I tend to prefer efficient units in general.

      1. I have a be quite straight power 12 1500w psu do you know if it has the old 12vhpwr the new 12v 2 x 6 as I have on order a 5090

  10. Hello there! I got to say thank you for the list and for helping the PC community. I’m building a PC, and I’m planning to get 5090. I bought Rog Thor II 1200W in the summer with the plan to get 4090, but I decided to wait for the 5090.

Will this PSU be enough or should I get another? I’m browsing through the comments and I saw that you value AsRock.

    Thank you!

  11. Hey Aris! Watched your latest videos and now I’m wondering which PSU should I go. I recently made a build with 9800x3D and 5090 RTX and considerating the melting cables issues I wanna be safe as much as possible. I was considerating the NZXT C1200 but now I’m unsure. Can you help me decide?

    GPU: 5090 RTX
    CPU: 9800x3D
    RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 6000mhz CL30 – 64gb
    HDD x1
    SSD x1 (Samsung 990 PRO)

  12. Do you plan to retest the FSP Hydro Ti Pro 1000 (ATX3.1)? I really want to buy this PSU, but a little worried because sometimes manufacturers make internals cheaper over new iterations 🫣

    Thanks for your great work!

      1. Yeah, I know about box label discrepancy 🙂 My concern is that in addition to the 12V connector, they may have changed some internals to make them cheaper, and if so, the PSU will no longer work as well as in your review. That’s why I asked about retest.

  13. Hey man, yoyur video brought me here, really appreciate your work!

I am wondering which 1200W+ PSU to choose.
Currently running Ryzen 7 7800X3D and RTX 4090 FE. 4K gaming on an OLED TV
Will probably want to upgrade in 2 years, hence the overhead power.
Currently deciding between these, but feel free to suggest something else 🙂
    1. SeaSonic Prime PX 1300W
    2. Super Flower Leadex VII XG 80 PLUS Gold 1300W
    3. MSI MEG Ai-P 1300W
    4. be quiet! Dark Power Pro 13 1600W
    5. Seasonic PRIME TX -1600 Noctua Edition

    Can you help me decide?

  14. I’ve paired the Leadex VII XG 1000W with the 5080, a week of heavy use later no issues so far. Loved your review on it as well, why isnt it in the list though?

  15. Hi first of all great work and kudos for your dedication in a niche area which has always been very confusing!

Recently had a bad luck with the NZXT c1200 blew up within 10 days of use tripping my breaker which is really odd though it’s quite frequently mentioned in your top recommendations.
I am finding a good deal on the Cooler Master MWE Gold 1050 V2 ATX 3.0 and I see this and the ATX3.1 version appearing in your performance charts but I couldnt find any review of this on your website or YouTube channel?

Looking at the charts it’s usually in 10-15 on most of the charts. There is also not much information about this particular model.

Would you recommend this PSU. Thankyou in anticipation. Keep up the good work

      1. Thanks for your response Aris. Once again keep up the good work.

I can imagine the CM must be inferior to the NZXT ones hence cheaper and all PSU can fail luckily my PC survived!

Can I use the charts you have kindly have posted to have a rough idea of the cooler master mwe gold ATX 3.0’s performance or there are variance between the 1250W and 1000W models too?. Just very scared to get the CM master as havent every used their PSU!

  16. I am currently a bit thorn of choosing a asrock tc1650 or a asus thor iii 1600 as my next psu. However it seems the Asus isn’t in the charts at all? I cannot seem to find any reviews about that gpu first function that Asus has included aka if it’s working or that it’s just a gimmick/marketing material.

For the Asrock it has some temp guard thingie on the 12V-2×6 cables seems I cannot find any tests of that as well.

Thank you for the great tests/reviews you provide!

  17. Any chance you could add your thoughts about the newer 3.1 Thermaltake SFX 1000W Platinum? Cybenetics has a report already, and it’s the sole competitor to the Corsair SF1000 in the true SFX form factor at 1000W. Everything else is either an SFX-L or lower rated power. Would really appreciate it!

Also, one other question if I may ask. In theory, given that the innovation of the 12V-2X6 connector is the inclusion of the Sense Pins (particularly the 3.1 spec), wouldn’t it be a safer choice to always use a native 12V-2X6 connector on both ends to ensure its benefits at all times, rather than just on the GPU side? For example using a Type4/Type5 connector on the PSU side (like on the SF1000)?

  18. Hey! It’s weird that the DeepCool PX1000P didn’t make the “1000W PSUs” list, though it had a “recommended” badge in your review. Is there a reason not to include it?

  19. Hello, i have the Seasonic Focus GX ATX 3.0 (2023)

    Will it be fine for 9800X3D + Asus Astral 5090 + 2 nvme + 7 P14 Arctic fans?

Not 100% sure if i should keep it or return the PSU and get a better one?

    Thanks!

  20. Maybe obvious, but then again… I currently have Corsair AX1600i and have new build on the way. My new build will be Ryzen 9950x3d/5090OC/M2.Nvme disks.
Should I use my two year old AX1600i for the new build? I have Asus ROG Strix 1200W Platinum new in a box as well…

      1. Thank you, I have the whole box and cable-kit. Just didn’t get quite confident regarding 3.x or this new cable that Asus have for their GPU. I’ll switch then 🙂

  21. Hello,
    Currently planning a build with a 5090 and a 9800 x3d (atm rocking a 1080).
For whatev. reason the FSP Hydro PTM PRO ATX3.1(12V-2×6) 1650W is cheaper here than any 1200w platin 3.1 PSUs.
Is this a good one or should it be avoided for being bad / very loud or something? thank you very much in advance!

  22. Hi, I’m confused on these super flower PSUs. In another thread I thought I saw you say the PRO is the renamed XP, but in the list I see the XP, XG, and the PRO (with the PRO below the other two overall). On Newegg the PSU says “XP PRO” so is this the 3rd overall on the list or the one lower down? Thanks

  23. whould love to see your opinion on this Abysm Morpheo GX5 1000W it is made by helly and its 80 plus gold and cybenetics platinum, from what i research it apears to be the same platform they used with deepcool PQ

  24. It is surprising to see that neither the Seasonic PX-1000 or GX 1000 made any of your categories for top 3 pick in the 1000 watt power supplies. would you recommend the NZXT C1000 Gold over a Seasonic GX-1000, considering their reputation for making solid power supplies?

  25. Hello, which one should i choose HCG extreme/gold or Rme 2023 850W?
    My current rig is :

AMD 6700 XT I want to upgrade it to AMD 7900 XT in the future
    2x16gb DDR5 6000
    1 SATA SSD
    1 NVME

  26. Hi..which one is the best between FSP Vita GM 850W and Super Flower Leadex III Gold 850W ATX 3.1?
    My rig is :
    Ryzen 7 5700X3D with B450m mobo
RTX 2060 Super soon I want to upgrade it to RTX 3080 Ti
    2x8Gb DDR4 3200
    1 SATA SSD
    1 NVME
    2 HDD

  27. Hello! I am building a pc with intel 12700k and AMD 7900 xt (sapphire pulse), 32 GB ddr5 ram, and 3-4 ssd. What is the best power supply out right now for what I need?

      1. I have a deepcool PX1000G (old rev atx 3.0) with a 5800x3D and a 4080. Worried about my gpu melting when I get a 5090. Is that a concern and should I swap it out, or is it fine?

          1. Thanks!

          2. I bought a Raijintek ampere 1000w, I don’t really understand the values, which tier is it in, is it good?
