Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 1200W PSU Review

Average Noise

The average noise is high. Given the restricted fan grille, small PCB, and high output, I didn’t expect great things here.

Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C

[115V] The unit operates in its passive mode for a small period, and the problem is that at some points, the fan spins fast, even at light loads, to remove the heat. With 280W and more, the fan enters the 30-35 dBA zone, which is pretty high, given that we mainly talk about mid-loads. With 930W and higher loads, noise exceeds 35 dBA; at around 980W, the fan’s noise goes over 40 dBA. If you push the PSU more, you will have a nasty surprise at 1080W with the noise level over 45 dBA.

  1. Got the 1200W for around 150$, turned out to be the CE-Link model made in Vietnam. Thank you for informing of these different versions and scummy ass companies. Time to return this piece of shit!
