Epilogue
Like its big brother, the Lian Li EG1000G has a unique shape, which, according to its maker, offers some advantages in dual-chamber chassis. The USB and fan hub might interest some users, but the fact is that most mainboards nowadays have more USB headers than required. As for the fan hub, getting one that can handle ARGB lighting besides fan speed is preferable. Since the PSU’s location is typically hard to reach, making the USB/fan hub removable is smart. Moreover, the removable fan dust cover is a nice idea, and it would be nice to see it in more PSUs!
Performance-wise, the EG1000G isn’t something extraordinary, and with a similar amount of money, you can get better-performingandard units. Lian Li focused more on the unique features of this PSU than on its performance. That said, the overall performance isn’t bad, and the unit’s average noise output is lower than 20 dBA, so this unit will be a fine choice if you are not after top performance. Moreover, Lian Li paid special attention to the high-power cable to avoid any issues in the long run with powerful GPUs like the RTX 5090 and used a reliable fan to increase reliability. The filtering capacitors on the secondary side are not from known manufacturers to restrict the production cost; the same goes for most of the MOSFETs used in this platform. Until I check these Ltec capacitors’ performance, I prefer not to comment on their reliability because whatever information I find is dated. I want to test everything in my lab to be sure that the data I provide is accurate.
The Lian Li EG1000G is a decent unit sold at a fair price, given its features. Its performance is not competitive at both voltage inputs I tried, 115V and 230V. It would score higher with better transient response overall, especially at high loads. Moreover, the normal and hot OPP triggering points ideally should be further apart, to protect the PSU more effectively.
