1st Player NGDP 1000W PSU Review

Box & Bundle

The box is small, and its graphics design is conservative but elegant. To my eyes, at least. It provides good protection, and the bundle accompanying the PSU is rich, including zip ties, Velcro straps, a PSU jump-starter, fixing bolts, and lots of paperwork.

Product Photos

The PSU’s dimensions are super compact, but there is also the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G7, which is even smaller, with 130mm in length. The fan’s grill has large perforations, allowing for good airflow, and the red button at the front can make some worry, but it is only to control the semi-passive operation. I would use a different color for this button.

The modular panel has 13x sockets, which are enough to allow for a smooth power transfer without high voltage drops.

Cables

Modular Cables
Description Cable Count Connector Count (Total) Gauge In Cable Capacitors
ATX connector 20+4 pin (610mm) 1 1 16-22AWG No
4+4 pin EPS12V (650mm) 2 2 16AWG No
6+2 pin PCIe (600mm) 4 4 16AWG No
12+4 pin PCIe (720mm) (600W) 1 1 16-24AWG No
SATA (450mm+150mm+150mm+150mm) 3 12 18AWG No
4-pin Molex (450mm+150mm+150mm+150mm) 1 4 18AWG No
AC Power Cord (1360mm) – C13 coupler 1 1 18AWG

All cables are individually sleeved, and there are two EPS connectors on dedicated cables, four PCIe 6+2 pin connectors on dedicated cables, a single 12+4 pin connector set at 600W, twelve SATA, and four 4-pin Molex connectors. The number of SATA and 4-pin Molex connectors is adequate, and the distance between all peripheral connectors is ideal at 150mm. The EPS cables are also long enough. I would like the ATX cable to reach 650mm for no issues, even at a huge chassis.

  1. Hey,

I was searching information about the Antec Neo Eco NE1000G M and looks like they use the OEM (Helly Technology). Antec even has a 1300W version too, like 1stplayer does, so it may be based in the same platform than this PSU, do you know if this information is true?

I bought the Antec one as i was in need of a compact PSU, plus got it pretty cheap (Less than 160USD). I was worried about the quality of the PSU as i couldn’t find any proper review of it, but reading this one and the price i paid, if the OEM is Helly Technology i think i made a good decision.

The Antec one uses a FDB fan tho, should i be worried for the fans as you said ”fluid dynamic is less tolerant to heat.” or about the FETs?

    Thank you very much!

    1. I am not sure if it uses the same platform as this one, because I don’t have close relations with Antec.
Helly proved to be a good OEM so far. FDB fans are ok for normal use.
