Montech AX120 PWM Fan Review

The Montech AX120 PWM is an affordable ARGB fan. According to its maker, it is suitable for chassis or cooling system use, meaning that its airflow and static pressure are high enough to cover both usage scenarios. This is something that I will confirm in this review.

The Montech AX120 PWM costs 13 dollars and belongs to the affordable 120mm fan category. Its price is not as low as the Arctic P12 PWM PST, whose price tag is at $9, but the P12 doesn’t have ARGB lighting, and this feature dramatically affects the production cost and, thus, the final price. With a quick look at the product’s spec, I noticed high enough airflow but below 2.0 mmAq static pressure, to be more precise, 1.8 mmAq, so I am unsure if this fan is suitable for cooling solutions where increased static pressure is required. On the other hand, with 59 CFM airflow, the AX120 will be suitable for a chassis with medium to low thermal loads. Since this fan’s maximum speed is 1600 RPM, you should not expect top performance, but what matters the most is performance in normalized noise levels, e.g., 20 dBA and 25 dBA.
