Corsair Air 5400 Chassis Review

Noise Damping/Output Results

Stock Fans Speed

The fans of the 5400 are fast compared to most standard options that typically ship preinstalled in a chassis.

Stock Fans Noise Output – LAeq/LZeq

At full speed, the noise level reaches a fairly loud 44.2 dBA, but this should be considered in context, as the fans spin up to 2400 RPM. At 70% PWM, the noise drops to a reasonable 35.1 dBA.

Noise Output All Frequencies – LAeq/LZeq

The noise output at low frequencies is somewhat high, but as the frequency increases, it decreases.

Noise Damping Performance All Frequencies – LAeq/LZeq

At frequencies up to 500 kHz, the chassis acts as an amplifier. The same is true at 7 kHz and 15 kHz. This pattern is pretty common among chassis. Outside of those areas, the noise damping is quite effective.

Noise Damping Performance Chirp/Pink Noise – LAeq/LZeq

This is another chassis with excellent Pink and Chirp noise-damping performance.

Noise Output Results – GPU

At around 70% PWM, the GPU noise increases slightly, deviating from the relatively linear trend shown in the chart.
