Thermaltake Toughpower PF3 1200W PSU Review

Average Noise

The average noise is high.

Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C

[115V] The unit operates in its passive mode for a short period. With higher than 200W loads, the fan’s speed changes frequently but without affecting noise output notably. At 395W, noise exceeds 20 dBA, and the 30 dBA mark is passed at around 630W. With just 10W more, the PSU enters the 35-40 dBA range. At 700W, the noise goes over 40 dBA; with 840W and higher loads, you will probably need earplugs. Lastly, my equipment caught a strange region at 600W, where the PSU’s fan shortly went into passive mode.
