Gamer Storm PQ1000M-V2 ATX v3.1 PSU Review

Epilogue

At the time of the review, I cannot know where you will find the Gamer Storm PQ1000M-V2 available and at what price. I can only comment on its performance, which is generally pretty good. To be more specific, the load regulation is tight on all rails except the 5VSB; ripple suppression is good. The transient response of the 12V rail is satisfactory under high loads. The platform is generally efficient and exhibits controlled EMI emissions. Some of the issues I found include high inrush currents, the fan’s aggressive speed profile, and adjustments required in the unit’s protection features, primarily on the minor rails where the OCP triggering points are set higher than necessary. Following my rule, though, I cannot provide any “recommended” badge to this product, given that I spotted some issues in its protection features. I bet that I won’t give any of these badges anytime soon, until manufacturers manage to set up all protection features properly, which is of immense importance.
