Corsair revamped the affordable RMe line, with ATX v3.1 compliant units. I will evaluate the flagship model in this review, with 1000W max power.
The Corsair RM1000e ATX v3.1 is (or will be) included in my best ATX v3.x & PCIe 5.x PSU picks article.
The entire RMe line is certified by Cybenetics, and although most units achieved Platinum efficiency, Corsair decided to “downgrade” their badges to Gold to retain consistency. At some point, it will become natural to marketing that it is not required for an entire PSU line consisting of different capacity models to have the same efficiency certification, and users will also be educated not to expect that.
The new RMe units have native 12V-2×6 sockets to meet the Intel ATX v3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards. Their embossed cables have low-profile combs to make cable management easier and to look nicer, too. A relatively loose speed profile drives the 120mm rifle bearing fan to keep noise output low. The RM1000e has a Cybenetics A- rating, with its average noise output being a little above 25 dBA. With a bit of tuning, this unit could easily achieve a Cybenetics A rating, but when you tune lower the fan speed, you also have to pay great attention to the platform’s thermal handling. Lastly, the PSU’s dimensions are compact, thanks to the restricted depth of the chassis, at 140mm.
A notable price gap exists between the 750W, 850W, and 1000W models.
