Wanbo X5 Projector Review

Epilogue

The Wanbo X5 utilizes 4K Decoding with HDR10, the most common type of HDR between streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, etc. It produces an HD 1080P, providing a good picture quality with vivid color depictions in rooms with light due to the 1100ANSI brightness and a slightly noticeable lag between the connected devices. This projector uses LCD technology, and its LED-type lamp has a longer lifespan but lower brightness than regular lamps, with good color performance. The brightness and contrast, with the projection distance, play a significant part in selecting a projector. This specific one has a brightness of 1100 Lumens, a projection of up to 6 meters, and a throw ratio of 1.5:1.

The robust speakers have full and clear audio and enough bass to satisfy you. The AI Autofocus made my life easier since I barely touched the Focus key for two seconds. The Android 9.0 operating system creates a well-known environment to work with and our favorite applications. The available input ports attempt to compensate for the fact that there will be smart devices that won’t be able to connect. For the asking price that varies from 240 to 260€, I believe it is an impressive device, depicting full HD images and videos, remarkable speakers, and an elegant design to fit pretty much everywhere. The brand offers a Discount Coupon -of 10$ by inserting the code 2ZGLFIZ6P1.

[Aris Input] I didn’t have time to test this projector because of the heavy workload at the lab, testing PSUs, coolers, GPUs, and, in general, IT parts. Gadgets, I leave them to Eri, who was way more patient than me in this area. Given the large size of this projector, I expected way better specs than the T2 MAX and lower noise output, but it is only HD and noisier! Nonetheless, I shouldn’t expect a 4K projection at this price. At least its speakers are stronger.

Pros:
  • Affordable price
  • Design & color
  • Bright colors and dark black
  • Loud speakers with decent bass
  • HDMI, USB, and headphone ports
  • Good build quality
  • 1100 ANSI
  • Android OS

  • Fast & stable connections (wireless)
Cons:
  • Not able to connect it with iOS devices
  • Noisy operation
  • Cannot be mounted on a tripod or to the ceiling
  • Short warranty (1-year)

  1. Hi, I can’t adjust the hue on my X5, it is grayed out. Did you experience this? Or do you o ow how to fix it, please? Thanks.

  2. You can mount it, I believe. Beneath the rubber pads on the bottom there are screw holes, I think?

  3. Hello, I want to ask how it is from the focus distance. I would like to know if the projector is placed more than 4 meters, whether the image will be well focused or not. The manufacturer sells 1.3-4 meters. I want to place the projector more than 4 meters away, so it won’t be a problem and the image will be blurry. Thank you and have a nice day. 🙂

  4. Hello, contrary to what is advertised, it is possible to attach the X5 to a projector: simply peel off the rubber pads under the device to reveal tapped holes.

        1. I had a call with Netflix support and told me that i cannot stream Netflix on a projector. I changed the password but still it didn’t work. Very nice projector but i cannot use it if i dont have access to streaming services. I will return it by the end of the week. Tried to update the firmware but the zip files on the company’s site were empty.

  5. What does HD 1080p means?
The review says it is native 1080p, although the end says it is HD only.
Is there a hidden quality when evalluating projectors?
