Overclocking & CPU Frequencies
Since this 8600G has an unlocked multiplier, I just dialed 50x multiplier and ran my tests. I also tried higher frequencies, but the system wasn’t stable.
With all cores at 5.0 GHz, the average temperature is notably lower! I conducted the same test repeatedly, only to see the same results. I found exactly the same behavior, as you can see in the charts, in the 8700G.
For some reason, at 5.0 GHz on all cores, the APU’s power consumption is lower than the stock, leading to lower operating temperatures.
As expected, at least performance is better, with all cores at 5.0 GHz. The performance gain is not that high.
The following charts show the processor’s clocks, helping you check how well (or not) it manages to sustain its clock frequencies.
