Thermaltake SWAFAN EX 12 ARGB Sync Fan Review

The Thermaltake SWAFAN EX 12 ARGB Sync fan is a high-end product, utilizing a magnetic force design which removes the need for power and ARGB cables. Another interesting feature of this fan, is that you can easily change its blade, since they can be removed and installed back in place in a matter of seconds. This is the first fan coming with both standard and reverse fan blades! 

The Thermaltake SWAFAN EX 12 ARGB Sync 120mm 3-pack goes for 82 dollars, meaning that this product aims at the high-end category. There is also a 140mm version, but in this review, I will focus on the 120mm diameter, which is more popular. The primary feature of this product, revealed also in its model number, is that it has swappable fan blades. Moreover, all of its cables are modular, and in case you want to install more than one in a series, you can utilize a Neodymium Magnetic connection. In other words, this fan features a daisy-chain feature, which is highly welcome when two or more fans have to be installed in a series.

The fan blades can be installed to provide either standard or reverse airflow, which can come in handy occasionally. The maximum speed is 2000 RPM, and the advertised airflow at this speed is 57 CFM, while the claimed maximum static pressure is 2.39 H2O. If your mainboard supports ARGB lighting, as most do nowadays, you can control the fan lighting effects through its software. Note the SWAFAN EX 12 RGB is a different product from this one, which uses ARGB lighting, utilizing the 5V rail instead of the 12V rail that the aforementioned model uses. If you have an ARGB-compatible mainboard, you should choose the SWAFAN EX 12 ARGB Sync. Otherwise, you should go with the SWAFAN EX 12 RGB, in which the 3-pack includes an RGB/PWM hub.
