Corsair HS80 MAX Wireless Review

The Corsair HS80 MAX Wireless is a mid-range wireless gaming headset that builds on the HS80 RGB Wireless with notable upgrades, particularly in connectivity and battery life.

The Corsair HS80 RGB Wireless is a well-regarded gaming headset known for its outstanding microphone performance. The latest iteration, the HS80 MAX Wireless, introduces several enhancements and new features, including Bluetooth connectivity. Notably, the HS80 MAX does not replace the older HS80 RGB Wireless model, giving users the freedom to choose based on their preferences.

The HS80 MAX’s sound quality is robust, featuring 50mm neodymium drivers that deliver high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/96kHz. The headset supports Dolby Atmos on PC and Tempest 3D Audio on PS5, enhancing the spatial audio experience in supported games. Corsair’s iCUE software also includes the SoundID feature, allowing personalized sound profiles. Its effectiveness can vary based on individual preferences and requires a proper setup to maximize its benefits.

Comfort is ensured by the headband design and memory foam ear pads; however, some users might find it uncomfortable during extended use, mainly if the headband presses down too hard. The build quality is solid and durable, maintaining a premium feel. While the initial setup might involve trial and error to find the perfect fit, the headset can be pretty comfortable once correctly adjusted. Nevertheless, the headset is not the lightest at 352g (0.78lb), which might be a deal breaker for some users. The same was true for the older HS80 RGB variant.

The battery life is a standout feature of the new model, in addition to Bluetooth. The HS80 MAX boasts up to 65 hours on 2.4 GHz wireless and up to 130 hours on Bluetooth (without RGB lighting), significantly improving over previous models. The wireless range of the new headphones has also improved dramatically.

When it first launched, the HS80 MAX Wireless had some microphone issues. However, Corsair quickly addressed these problems with a software update, restoring the clear sound quality that users have come to expect from the HS80 RGB variant.
