Sharkoon Rebel P20 750W ATX v3.1 PSU Review

The Sharkoon Rebel P20 750 is the smallest member of the corresponding line, featuring ATX v3.1 compliance and Cybenetics Gold efficiency. It is among the quietest PSUs available in today’s market and this is depicted on its Cybenetics A++ noise rating.

The Sharkoon Rebel P20 750 is included in my best ATX v3.x & PCIe 5.x PSU picks article.

Sharkoon released two new power supply lines: one with normal-size ATX members and one with small-form-factor SFX models. I have already evaluated three members of the normal form factor (ATX) line, and in today’s review, I will look at the lowest capacity member, with 750W max power. You will find the rest reviews in the links below:

Andyson is the OEM of all Rebel P20 units, an OEM able to deliver good platforms at fair prices. The Rebel P20 750 is a fully modular unit with ultra-compact dimensions thanks to the restricted 140mm depth. Compact, downsized PSUs are usually noisy because their small PCBs are overloaded with parts, so the thermal load is increased, while there isn’t enough space at the internals for optimal airflow. This is NOT the case here, with the P20 750 being one of the quietest PSUs on today’s market with below 10 dBA average noise output. I just hope such a relaxed fan speed profile does not jeopardize the PSU’s reliability under harsh conditions.

  1. Ripple suppression is IMHO even remarkable, not only good. I compare to the SilverStone DA750R Gold review on Tomshardware, which is a very similar PSU, probably build on the identical Andyson platform (P32).

Just compare the part analysis of the Silverstone and the Sharkoon, the inner build is very similar with some light benefits for the P20 (like the better fan):

Heatsinks and layout are identical. Ignore what the review says (“Internally, the DA750R utilizes a platform from HKC and incorporates Ltec, Teapo and Polycap capacitors”) – this is not true if you check the pictures and they admit the error in the comments.

Coming back to ripple supression, the Tomshardware-Review of the DA750R by quote: “Ripple suppression is outstanding for a unit of this class, with maximum ripple levels of 28 mV on the 12V rail, 18 mV on the 5V rail, and 18 mV on the 3.3V rail, well within the industry standard limits for this tier.” If this is truly outstanding, then the PA20 750w should be even better, as it has even lower mVs. Whats better than outstanding? Certainly not the word “good”.
