The be quiet! Dark Power 13 1000W offers titanium efficiency and dead silent operation, and it is ATX v3.0 and PCIe 5.0 compatible, achieving top performance in the demanding transient response scenarios that the aforementioned standards dictate.
The Dark Power 13 line consists of three members with capacities ranging from 750W to 1000W. FSP provides all Titanium certified platforms, which promise low noise output. After all, this brand is known for its silent products, so I can’t help but wonder why be quiet! hasn’t yet embraced the Cybenetics scheme, which awards silent operating products. A “silent” oriented brand that doesn’t support a “silent” oriented certification is something that I cannot explain, and I will stop this here.
The retail prices of the Dark Power 13 units are provided below:
Model | MSRP |
Dark Power 13 1000W | $289.90 / 294.90€ / £289.99 |
Dark Power 13 850W | $249.90 / 259.90€ / £249.99 |
Dark Power 13 750W | $209.90 / 214.90€ / £209.99 |
The be quiet! Dark Power 13 1000W has large enough dimensions, measuring 175mm in length, and I also believe that this is the way to offer quiet operation. In compact PSUs, the cramped-up PCBs don’t allow a good airflow between the electronic parts, so the cooling fan has to spin fast to remove the heat. Moreover, I agree with the lack of a semi-passive operation when the fan rotates at low speeds at light loads. The fan-stop feature increases heat at the PSU’s internals, so fan speed peaks can be annoying. Lastly, the provided warranty is extended to ten years.

A review of the be quiet! Dark Power Pro 13 1300W (or 1600W) would be very welcome.
The 1600 is on my list 🙂
Great! Do you have a time frame for the release of your review?
Does your Dark Power model suffer from a fan that spins with an “rrrrrrrrrrrr” noise?
I have a Dark Power Pro 12 and some user reviews of the Dark Power 13 in the UK report that the fan noise is persistent.
There are some areas where then noise is increased, because of the bearing noise, but it is too low in general.

I got two Dark Power 13 100W from two different online retailers and they both have obvious bearing noise. Stay away.
A bit of further messing about, it seems that the one I tried it with would make no irregular fan noise when placed fan up, but makes obvious bearing noise when oriented fan down.
