The MSI PRO A1000PL PCIE5 uses a modern platform, provided by the Chinese OEM Huntkey. It achieves competitive overall performance without using expensive parts (Japanese capacitors and MOSFETs), and I don’t mind that so much. What I do mind is the use of a cheap Yate Loon fan, and it’s strange that MSI decided to provide a ten-year warranty for a PSU that uses it, especially given its aggressive fan speed profile. The increased noise output is why this PSU is aimed mostly at professional users, as MSI calls them, rather than home or gaming use. This is one of the most aggressive fan speed profiles I have encountered recently, and it looks strange given the platform’s high efficiency.
All in all, the MSI PRO A1000PL PCIE5 is a highly efficient but noise PSU that meets the ATX v3.1 spec’s requirements. If MSI provides it at a good price, it can be a good choice for users who don’t care about noise output.
