Seasonic provides this platform with a contemporary design. Its primary side has an APFC, a full bridge, and an LLC resonant converter. On the secondary side, a synchronous rectification scheme is used for 12V, and a pair of DC-DC converters generate the minor rails. The PCB is compact but not densely populated because of the lack of large heatsinks on the secondary side. This means that airflow is not restricted; hence, the fan doesn’t have to spin at high speeds to cool down the components. Please note that I have removed the bulk caps in the photos above to provide a better view of the internals.

The transient filtering stage has all the necessary parts to block incoming and outgoing EMI emissions. Typically, it starts at the AC receptacle and continues on the main PCB.

The NTC thermistor’s resistance looks low, but we will determine whether this is true with current inrush measurements. A bypass relay supports the NTC thermistor.

The two parallel bridge rectifiers are hard to identify without desoldering their heatsink (and them), so I skipped that part. Moreover, it is very easy to destroy these parts if you apply heat to them for a prolonged period (to desolder them).

The APFC converter uses two Infineon FETs and a boost diode of the same brand. The bulk caps are by Chemi-con and offer a combined capacity of 720uF. They are rated for 2,000 h at 105 °C.

The APFC controller is a Champion CM6500UNX.

The four Infineon primary switching FETs are installed in a full-bridge topology, and an LLC resonant converter is used for higher efficiency.

The resonant controller is a Champion CU6901VPA.

The main transformer is next to the resonant tank and capacitive parts of the LLC resonant converter.

Six Nexperia PSMN1R0-40YLD FETs regulate the 12V rail. They are installed on the business side of the main PCB, and heat sinks above them keep operating temperatures under control.

Two DC-DC converters generate the minor rails.

Chemi-Con, Nichicon, and Rubycon provide the electrolytic filtering capacitors. The polymer caps are by FPCAP.

You can find more information about capacitor performance and other specs below:

The supervisor controller is a Weltrend WT7527RA.

The standby PWM controller is Excelliance MOS EM85690.

Several polymer and electrolytic caps at the face of the modular panel form an extra ripple-filtering layer.

Not much to see here. The soldering quality is good enough.

The cooling fan is a Hong Hua HA13525H12F-Z with a fluid dynamic bearing.

  1. I noticed that the test results, especially the fan control, differ between this review and the report 24PS2426A for same model. Did the review test a new revision that is not yet on the market?

    1. Seems, I found the relevant report – 23PS2308A. This appears to be an earlier revision of the power supply.
