Green Medel GP1000B-EDGE ATX v3.1 PSU Review

Epilogue

The Green Medel GP1000B-EDGE has good ripple suppression; it is not noisy and has low inrush currents. Its APFC converter operates well under both voltage inputs I tried (115V and 230V) and uses quality parts. Its load regulation is not tight overall, and I would like to see better transient response at 12V and 3.3V. There is also room for improvement in the protection features of the minor rails, but at least the 12V rail’s protection features operate well, and the same goes for OPP under high temperatures.

This PSU is destined for a specific market (Turkish), so it won’t interest most of this site’s viewers. Still, some will find this review helpful, and I want to help people from everywhere in the world find the ideal PSU.

Pros:
  • Delivered full power at 46°C
  • ATX v3.1 and PCIe 5.1 ready
  • High build quality
  • High enough overall performance
  • Cybenetics Platinum efficiency
  • Not noisy operation
  • High power factor readings
  • Good ripple suppression
  • Extended hold-up time
  • Tight load regulation at 5V
  • Low inrush currents
  • Alternative Low Power Mode (ALPM) compatible
  • 5x PCIe on three cables and 1x 12+4-pin PCIe connectors
  • Long EPS and PCIe cables
  • Adequate distance between the SATA connectors
Cons:
  • OCP triggering points on the minor rails need adjustments
  • Mediocre transient response at 12V and 3.3V
  • Not tight load regulation at 12V (because of a voltage step at 100W)
  • Higher than 0.1W vampire power consumption at 230V
