Deepcool PL800D: The most affordable ATX v3.1 PSU!

Box & Bundle

The box is plain, but it does its job well in protecting the PSU effectively. Once you open it, you will be greeted by the paperwork.

Product Photos

This is the typical DeepCool PSU design, with the weird-looking fan grille with large openings allowing for good airflow. The PSU’s dimensions are compact, thanks to the 140mm length. At its front size, the exhaust grille has rectangle perforations instead of the typical honeycomb-style ones, and the power switch has a distinctive color.

Around the back, the flat native cables leave the PSU from a relatively small hole. The hole doesn’t have a plastic grommet, but its edges are rounded and not sharp, so it won’t damage the cables.

Cables

Captive Cables
Description Cable Count Connector Count (Total) Gauge In Cable Capacitors
ATX connector 20+4 pin (560mm) 1 1 18-22AWG No
4+4 pin EPS12V (735mm) 2 2 18AWG No
6+2 pin PCIe (590mm+120mm) 1 2 18AWG No
6+2 pin PCIe (580mm) 1 1 18AWG No
12+2 pin PCIe (590mm) (600W) 1 1 16-26AWG No
SATA (445mm+105mm+105mm+105mm) / 4-pin Molex (+100mm) 2 8 / 2 18AWG No
Modular Cables
AC Power Cord (1385mm) – C13 coupler 1 1 18AWG

Given that this is a non-modular 800W PSU, there are plenty of cables and connectors. The EPS cables are extra long, but I want to see the ATX cable exceed 600mm. The 12+2 pin connector is set at 600W, although labeled as 450W. Lastly, the distance between the peripheral connectors is short at 105mm, probably because each of the respective cables has five connectors, so the voltage drops on the last connectors would be increased with a longer distance.
