The 12V rail’s OCP triggering points are correctly set, but this is not the case for the minor rails where the corresponding OCP triggering points are set sky-high. At least, there is a difference between normal and hot conditions. The over power protection is set high enough, and the corresponding triggering point drops enough at high temperatures. Finally, the other essential protection features are present and work well, with only fan failure protection missing.

  1. Is it just me or could the PSU have performed significantly better in ripple suppression and transient response if they hadn’t gone with such an extremely low amount of secondary caps on the secondary side?
I count 27 caps or which many are fairly small. Other manufacturers like Seasonic are liable to use over 50 caps in that power class.

Yes the form factor is small but they definitely had space for more caps on the breakout board. They cheaped out, which is a pity.

  2. UPMOST? XD
It’s nice to see that there is so much optimism and imagination around.
    This should lead to improvement.
