ASUS ROG Thor 1200W Platinum III ATX v3.1 PSU Review

Average Noise

The PSU’s average noise output is dead low. The fan speed profile is too relaxed, making me worry a bit. Let’s analyze it below.

Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C – 115V

The semi-passive mode lasts extra long for a 1200W PSU. The fan starts at low speeds at over 600W, only to stop again till the load reaches 680- 690W. At up to 1060W, the fan’s speed remains below 600 RPM, and even at full load, it doesn’t exceed 1000 RPM, where its noise output is below 30 dBA.

Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C – 230V

The 230V fan speed profile is identical to the 115V one.

  1. *moSfets !

    ” It features GaN MODFETs…”
    “… high-end ATX v3.1 compliant PSU using a Seasonic platform with MODFETs…”

  2. I’m considering this or MSI MEG AI1600T or Seasonic Prime TX ATX3.1 1300W. 5090/R7 9800X3D what would you suggest?

  3. Aris i’ve seen that Cougar GLE1000/1200 cybenetics the data OEM said it was CE-Link, but i was bought the GLE 1000 and they said on a label it was Compucase or HEC, which it’s true about this CE-Link or HEC/Compucase ?

    1. As I remember I asked Cougar about the OEM and they told me CE-Link, because at some point it is difficult to recognize who actually made the PSU.
