ASRock Taichi TC-1650T ATX v3.1 PSU Review

Epilogue

It is nice to have another big brand like ASRock entering the PSU market with the simultaneous release of so many models! The Taichi TC-1650T is the flagship model, achieving a top place at 115V and first place in my 230V charts among all similar capacity ATX v3.1 units available in today’s market. Its transient response is top, the load regulation is tight, ripple suppression is good, inrush currents are well controlled, and most importantly, its protection features are correctly configured, which is usually not the case even in high-end and expensive PSUs. My only complaint regarding the protection features is that it doesn’t have fan failure protection, but I push hard for FSP to implement and provide it to this platform. Every PSU needs to have fan failure protection since if the fan goes wrong, the PSU will soon follow! Speaking about the fan, this PSU uses one of the best fans available in the PSU market, provided by Power Logic. I am so happy to see this fan brand again in PSUs. Most choose Hong Hua because they offer an increased performance per price ratio and are reliable enough, but in my book, Power Logic is higher than Hong Hua.

  1. Hey how are you.

I am currently thinking about a PSU that is Future proof 1200w+ with Dual 2x 16 Pin Connectors.

    I am currently evaluating between

    NZXT C1500 Platinum
    vs
    1300 Taichi / Gold Series

I have read that the c1500 has wrong ocp/opp values, but the Asrock Models dont have Fan Failure Protection.

What is more Important, and what would you advice me too buy from the Models:

    NZXT1500C
    Phantom Gaming Gold 1300/1600
    Taichi 1300

🙂 The Noise doesnt matter i have headset 🙂

  2. Wouldn’t have expected AsRock to enter that space but it’s always a welcome surprise to see new competition. Are there any plans to also test their SL-G and PG-G units?

      1. Interestingly, ASRock Phantom and Taichi have the same specifications for the 1600 and 1300 units.
The only differences are in the Gold efficiency for the Phantom units and Titanium for Taichi ones,
and the number of connecting cables for the 1600 and 1300 models.
