This is not the same platform as the NGDP 1000 that I have reviewed. The PCB’s layout differs, and the small PCB is relatively loaded with parts, especially on the secondary side. Two heatsinks surround the main transformer, used to cool down the 12V FETs, which are installed on the PCB’s surface at its top side so they are in direct contact with the fan’s airflow. There is little to see on the PCB’s backside except for the good soldering quality and a pair of shunt resistors.
On the primary side, in addition to the APFC converter, we also find a half-bridge topology and an LLC resonant converter for lower switching losses. On the secondary side, a synchronous rectification scheme handles the 12V rail, with six FETs total, and the minor rails are generated through a pair of DC-DC converters.
Overall, the build quality is good, with Chemi-Con bulk caps, Rubycon and Chemi-Con filtering caps on the secondary side, and Champion controllers. The cooling fan is by Hong Hua, and it uses a fluid dynamic bearing, so it will last long under normal operating conditions. In the 1000W model I reviewed a terrible Yate Loon fan was used, so it is very good to see Helly changing that part with a much better one.
I found this psu in local online marketplace and it’s about $105,63 (current currency). I was a bit skeptical first because it’s have newest feature in a cheap price. But glad i found this positive review, can’t wait for my next pc build
Aris did you have or receive some ASUS Prime PSU that based on CWT GPX is that good enough as ATX 3.0 psu ?
Nope as I remember
