Performance & Image Quality
We used the highest graphics quality settings in each game. We didn’t find any noticeable differences in performance. Note that in most games, the PS5’s max quality settings are not as high as those of the PS5 Pro.
Fortnite
There are no noticeable differences in this level.
I cannot say I see any differences in the Fortnite level.
Ratchet & Clank
According to the game developers, a new graphics mode called Fidelity Pro offers new RT features in the game settings. This mode is only available for the PS5 Pro.
There are no noticeable differences in this scene.
The lighting and shadows are a bit more detailed in the PS5 Pro.
The lighting in the PS5 Pro is notably better in this scene than in the PS5.
Resident Evil 4
On the “plain” PS5, the game allows you to swap between Resolution and framerate modes, with optional ray tracing and “hair strands.” In the PS5 Pro, you can unlock the frame rate and enable Resolution mode, ray tracing, and hair strands. The game will still run at 60 FPS with all these graphics options enabled.
There are some differences in the shadows and lighting, but I cannot say that they impress me.
Stellar Blade
Stellar Blade gets two additional performance settings in the PS5 Pro: Pro and Pro Max. The Pro mode locks the refresh rate at 60fps with high image quality thanks to PSSR, and Pro Max is at 4K with a refresh rate of around 50fps, so a display capable of a variable refresh rate is ideal for this mode.
Nothing notable in this scene.
The tower is more detailed in the PS5 Pro.
The Finals
This game has the most notable differences between the PS5 and the PS5 Pro. The mirroring effects look more realistic in the new console.
