After power supplies, Super Flower decides to enter the cooling solutions market with the Megacool 120mm PWM fan, which packs some impressive features, including a remote control from which you can adjust its speed in three presets: low, mid,and high. Thanks to the double ball-bearing, the 3-phase and 12-pole motor design, this fan promises for top performance and reliability. In this review I will evaluate it in all of tis three modes, so it is a 3-1 review!
Super Flower is well known for its top-performance power supplies, but this wasn’t enough for its people who wanted to expand to other categories. One of the most popular product categories is cooling fans, which also have a tremendous profit for manufacturers and brands, so SF did well to enter this field. The Megacool fan uses a 3-phase and 12-pole motor design to rotate a double ball bearing up to 3300 RPM! It has three modes of operation, which can be selected through remote control. I tried changing the fan speed profile with the fan inside my chamber and with 60 cm walls and a 350kg steel door in between, and it worked like a charm! The best part is that you can change the speed of all Megacool fans through this remote control at once.
The double ball bearings allow this fan to operate under high operating temperatures without any reliability issues. Yes, DBB fans are noisier than FDB ones. Still, a fluid dynamic bearing won’t survive for long if you use it at >40℃ temperatures for prolonged periods because its lubricant will evaporate. At the same time, this is not a problem for dual ball bearings, which can operate at >50℃ without sweating. Typically, DBB fans are more expensive than FDB or even HDB ones. I am referring, of course, to quality fans.

between these and the phanteks t30s, which would you pick? or is there another high performance, thicker fan you’d go with?
Phanteks most likely because it performs better in the normalized tests.
Silverstone Vista on p10 chart has to be wrong, especially on the 20db chart
We re-measured all fans. I will look into that.
