Scythe MUGEN 6 Black Edition – The Budget King!

Normalized Noise Tests

For these tests, I set the cooler’s fan(s) to speeds with noise output at the following predefined levels: 20/25/30/35/40 dBA. I skip the corresponding tests if the cooler’s fan(s) cannot reach some noise levels. Finally, I include a test where the cooler’s fan(s) spins at full speed.

Intel Results

CPU Temperature

The temperatures are high compared to the intense competition.

CPU Frequency

CPU frequencies are not that high, but the difference from the high-end air coolers is not dramatic.

CPU Wattage

The Mugen 6 can handle more than 300W of power, as seen in these graphs.

Cooler Exhaust Temperature

I measure the temperature at the exhaust side of the cooling solution.

AMD Results

CPU Temperature

The CPU temperatures are high, as in the Intel test system. Still, the differences between strong AIOs are not that great, so we have to look at CPU frequency and power consumption to get a complete picture. The operating temperatures alone don’t say much, which you all need to understand.

CPU Frequency

CPU frequencies are low compared to the powerful AIOs in my database. Once I find the time, I will install several popular air coolers on the AMD system to enrich the data.

CPU Wattage

CPU power consumption is decent, taking the lead from the single fan and compact, dual-tower Noctua cooler.

Cooler Exhaust Temperature

Due to a problem with the software, I didn’t get cooler exhaust temperatures. Sorry, but there is no way I am running all these tests again just for exhaust temperatures!

  1. Hello,
I’m new in this site. I have one question but I don’t know is this the appropriate place.
Does installing an more powerful fan/fans will improve the performance of this cooler.
Higher noise level is not an issue for my application.
Reason for asking this question are
    – Longer heatsinks create higher air resistance. It require higher pressure fan.
    – Denser hetsinks create higher air resistance. It require higher pressure fan.
    – Denser hetasinks requires higher air velocity. e.g pasive coolers has few ribs. High density cooler use centrifugal fans due to the high static pressure requirement.

  2. Thanks for the review.
    Beautiful aircooler.
I think it’s a perfect fit for Cooler Master MasterBox NR200.

All Db are at 96.26°c… wrong copy pasta ?

      1. I’m excited to see your reviews. It’s hard to do the comparison between differents websites since you don’t have exactly the same methdology, environment etc.
Scythe, Noctua, Thermalright, Deepcool aircoolers and some 240/280/360 aio to see the difference on charts.

  3. I’m sorry Aris i would ask, did you remove the Deepcool Cybenetics certification data on the web because 1 month ago i can download the PN1000M datasheet but their data was gone from web now, it’s also same at 80 plus web, it’s the certication data also affected by US Goverment force to action as part of sanction ?
