Epilogue
Corsair took a while to release the A500’s successor, and this time, things look good since the A115 offers high performance and its usability is good, thanks to the easily adjustable (in height) fans. The Noctua NH-D15 remains the king in the performance charts, especially the normalized noise output ones since its design is more noise efficient.
At full speed, the A115 equals the NH-D15, taking the lead from all other air coolers by a notable margin. But we have to look at noise output before we jump to conclusions.
• Corsair A115: 39 dBA
• DeepCool Assasin IV: 34.4 dBA
• Noctua NH-D15: 34.4
• Cooler Master MA824 Stealth: 34.2 dBA
As you can see, the A115 is the noisiest at full speed, so it makes perfect sense that it achieves such good performance. Still, it cannot surpass the NH-D15 despite the 4.6 dBA noise difference, which is notable. Corsair should find a way to lower noise output without affecting overall performance by making the corresponding changes to the heatsink. A change in the cooling fans, with ones having higher static pressure performance, could also help.
Overall, the A115 is a good cooler sold at a decent price. It meets eye-to-eye with most high-end air coolers in this category, with only the NH-D15 staying away. The A115’s performance is on par with the Cooler Master MA824 Stealth at 25 dBA and 30 dBA.
