Arctic P14 PWM PST CO Review – The budget friendly 140mm fan!

Epilogue

The P12 PWM PST impressed me more than the P14 PWM PST Co since it is notably more affordable, but you should keep in mind that 140mm fans are generally more expensive than 120mm ones. At 15 dollars, the P14 PWM PST Co achieves a high performance per price ratio, given that the competing offerings cost way more. The P14 PWM PST Co shines mostly at full speed, achieving decent airflow and competing static pressure. At lower speeds, its performance deteriorates, although its design is highly noise efficient (despite the double ball bearings, which are noisier than FDB ones). Thanks to the DBB bearings, the P14 PWM PST Co is suitable for operation in harsh conditions (e.g., high operating temperatures), and the lower power consumption means that the thermal loads of its bearings are minimized, stressing it less, thus increasing its lifetime.

To give you an idea about prices, the SilverStone Shark Force 140 and EK-Loop FPT 140mm cost around $36 at the time of the review, and the be quiet! Light Wings 140 $30. To remind you, the P14 PWM PST Co cost is $15, so there is no comparison in this area. If you want a good quality 140mm with decent performance and 30 dBA noise output isn’t annoying for your ears, this product is ideal. If you want higher performance at lower noise and rotation speeds, you must invest more money to acquire another 140mm fan.

Pros:
  • Highly affordable
  • Good performance at 30 dBA normalized tests (airflow & static pressure)
  • Wide RPM operation (217 – 1761 RPM), including zero RPM mode
  • Not noisy, even at full speed
  • Daisy chain option (with long cables, though)
  • Double ball bearings for increased lifetime
  • PWM control
  • Low power consumption
  • 6-year warranty
Cons:
  • Low performance at medium and low rotating speeds (both airflow and static pressure)
