FSP M580 Plus Chassis Review. It only Looks Small!

The FSP M580 Plus might look small, but in fact it is a dual-chamber chassis offering plenty of space at its internals for mounting a pair of 360mm radiators and several fans. It is also compatible with both ATX and BTF mainboards and the past part is that it won’t break the bank, at 125 dollars.

The FSP M580 Plus is a sleek ATX mid-tower case designed for style and performance. It features a 270° curved tempered glass panel for a complete view of your build, efficient ARGB cooling fans, and support for long GPUs and multiple radiators. With excellent cable management and available in black or white, the M580 Plus is perfect for enthusiasts who want a visually striking yet high-performance system with many cooling options.

Unboxing and First Impressions

Upon unboxing the FSP M580 Plus chassis, you’re immediately greeted with a well-packed box, ensuring its safe delivery. The case is neatly secured with foam padding inside a plastic bag, with plastic wrap covering its glass to prevent scratches. Remove all the protective pieces, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the single tempered glass pane stretching back to the front, which has a high quality of 270 deg. curve.

Taking a first look around the chassis leaves the impression of a small chassis due to the dual-chamber layout and the black color of our review sample. Don’t be fooled by it; there is plenty of space for your components, and it’s got quite a heft to its construction.

Inside the chassis, you will find a small plastic box, neatly organized, containing all of the bundle’s accessories.

Design and Build Quality

The FSP M580 Plus features a clean, minimalistic design that leans towards a functional and aesthetic look. The side panel is tempered glass, offering a clear view of the internal components. The build quality also stands out—there are no sharp edges, and everything feels precisely assembled. While the overall weight is manageable, the chassis feels solid and well-constructed. The top, bottom, and backside are perforated.

Removing the side glass is a bit awkward, and the single screw that secures it at the bottom is not so easy to align.

The styling is very reminiscent of the Montech King 95 Pro. The radius of the glass is very similar but the FSP’s glass is of better quality. Unlike the Montech, the M580 has a single piece of glass, which gives a more premium feel but means you cannot swap it for a mesh front panel. Another similarity is the RGB accent on the front, where the glass meets the chassis’s backside.

On top, you will find the very rich I/O, which includes the Power Button, the Reset Button, two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, separate Audio and Mic jacks, and an LED control button.

Compatibility and Space Utilization

Space is one of the M580’s strong suits. Despite its compact size, it can fit even our E-ATX board, and just like every other recently released chassis, it also supports back-connect motherboards. It can comfortably accommodate high-end components, including large GPUs (up to 355mm), and supports larger CPU coolers (up to 160mm).

The layout is spacious, and cable management is straightforward, with dedicated channels to route wires cleanly. The interior also has ample room for expansion, with space for multiple drives and cooling options, ensuring that even the most demanding configurations won’t feel cramped.

Behind the motherboard, there is ample space for cables and drives. The fan controller is mounted on the bottom of the chassis, making it harder for fan cables on the top to reach the bottom.

Cooling and Airflow

The M580 Plus does not come empty! You will find four RGB fans and a fan controller inside the chassis. Three of the fans are mounted as side intake and use reverse blades. The fourth one is used as a rear exhaust and has standard blades. All of them are 30mm thick, support daisy chain, use dual ball bearings, and have a screen on the side that displays their RPM. This means there is only one correct orientation, but you only have to mess with one cable instead of three.

The controller has eight PWM headers and eight ARGB headers. One of the PWM headers is orange, but there is no clear indication of why. On the positive side, the connectors are at a 90-degree angle to the board, making it easy to connect from the top. It takes power through a SATA connector and connects to the motherboard with a PWM and an ARGB connector.

There’s room for up to ten fans, including support for top, rear, side, and bottom fan mounts, allowing users to optimize airflow based on their needs. Additionally, the M580 Plus supports radiators up to 360mm on the top, bottom, and up to 280mm on the side, ensuring ample options for liquid cooling setups.

The back-side panel has simple perforations without any filters despite being used as an intake, which is an oversight. However, you will find two magnetic dust filters on the top and bottom.

Storage Options

There are two storage locations in this chassis. The first one is on the removable bracket found behind the motherboard. It is held in place with four Philips head screws. Once removed, you can install two SSDs and one HDD.

In addition to this bracket, you can mount one HDD and one SSD on the bottom of the main compartment toward the front, according to FSP. One downside is that they will be fully visible, along with the cables connected. FSP expects you to place one on top of the other; at least, that’s what their documentation illustrates. But, there are additional screw holes right underneath the preinstalled fans, where an SSD also fits. This is a more likely placement.

Build Experience

The system build experience is painful in this FSP chassis. Removing the glass gives you excellent access to everything inside. Above the motherboard is ample space for radiators and plugging in the EPS cables. Behind the motherboard tray, there is enough room for cable management, too. Installing a storage drive will be a bit more limited, but still plenty for most builds.

The final build looks very good, with the white card providing a strong contrast point for the otherwise mostly dark build.

ARGB Lighting and Aesthetics

FSP has paid lots of attention to looks and RGB. On the front of the chassis, you will find a slim RGB light strip along the edge of the glass. It is less bright and vibrant, as shown on the marketing material, but it’s good-looking and balanced. Had it been brighter, it would have been too distracting. An ARGB header connected to the included controller lets you customize the lights through the button on top of the chassis or software on compatible motherboards.

Moreover, the RGB on the fans is also quite elegant, with thin light strips on either side of each fan and more lights on the blades. Besides the lighting, the RPMs on the side screen is another premium touch.
