Average Noise
The PSU’s average noise output is high, above 30 dBA, at both voltage inputs. However, as shown in the respective charts, this is the case for most high-power units.
Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C – 115V
The semi-passive mode lasts long enough with a moderate load on the minor rails. The PSU’s noise remains below 20 dBA at up to 640W (at 12V) without any load on the minor rails, which is unrealistic. With a 20-50W load on the minor rails, the PSU’s noise remains below 20 dBA at up to 790W at 12V. Generally, the fan speed profile has many steps, which is good, and it gets aggressive, meaning it is above 30 dBA noise at loads exceeding 780W (at 12V).
Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C – 230V
The 230V fan noise profile has minor differences compared to the 115V one. The >45 dBA fan operation is restricted at 230V, helping achieve a lower average noise output.
