SilverStone Extreme 1000Rz Platinum 1000W SFX12V V4.1 PSU Review

Average Noise

The PSU’s average noise output is notably low, especially compared to the other SFX units I have tested so far.

Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C – 115V

The fan’s passive mode is brief, but this is not an issue since the fan starts at low speeds, where noise output remains below 15 dBA. The (dead) low noise operation ends at around 680W, with noise increasing to above 20 dBA. The 30 dBA is passed at around 780W.

At 230V, the fan-stop feature lasts longer, and the 30 dBA mark is passed a bit later than at 115V, at 800W.

  1. I would like to know the noise output of the electric circuit in the PSU. My SF1000 outputs a 14953hz noise, it gives me headache. I would like to get something that don’t have this noise.

    1. this is not possible because each PSU once connected to a specific system affects it, so frequency analysis on a single PSU alone won’t mean anything regarding coil whine.
