SilverStone Extreme 1000Rz Platinum 1000W SFX12V V4.1 PSU Review

Box & Bundle

Typically, the box features a photo of the product on its front. On the same side, you will find the efficiency badges and the model number, along with a description of the capacity. Around the back are more details on the product’s technical specifications. Inside the box, the PSU is protected by packing foam and bubble wrap.

The bundle, according to SilverStone’s stock photos, includes an SFX-to-ATX bracket adapter.

Product Photos

This is a compact PSU, since it follows the SFX form factor. Its fan grille is punched with large enough perforations to allow for good airflow. At the front side, besides the AC receptacle and the power switch, you will also find a smaller switch for toggling on/off the fan stop feature.

The modular panel has nine sockets, including a native 12V-2×6 header.

Modular Cables
Description Cable Count Connector Count (Total) Gauge In Cable Capacitors
ATX connector 20+4 pin (300mm) 1 1 16-18AWG No
4+4 pin ATX12V (400mm) 2 2 16AWG No
6+2 pin PCIe (400mm+150mm) 1 2 16-18AWG No
2x 6+2 pin PCIe (400mm) 2 2 18AWG No
12+4 pin PCIe (400mm) (600W) 1 1 16-24AWG No
SATA (300mm+200mm+100mm+100mm) 1 4 18AWG No
4-pin Molex (300mm+200mm+200mm) / FDD (+100mm) 1 3 / 1 18AWG No

There are enough cables and connectors to handle the unit’s max power smoothly. All cables are short because this is an SFX unit, so it will most likely be installed in a small chassis. Nonetheless, if you decide to use the provided SFX-to-ATX adaptor to install it in a standard ATX chassis, the short cables will be a limiting factor. That said, it is good to see large distances between some of the SATA and 4-pin Molex connectors.
