PCCooler YS1200 ATX v3.1 PSU Review

Average Noise

The PSU’s average noise output remains below 30 dBA, so it is not that high. Still, there are similiar capacity platforms offering way lower average noise output.

Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C – 115V

The fan’s passive operation doesn’t last long if you apply high loads on the minor rails. Even with a minimal load at 12V and combined power on the minor rails exceeding 100W, the fan’s noise is within the 25-30 dBA range. At 740W on the 12V rail, the fan’s noise remains in the same range regardless of load on the minor rails. Wth more than 900W at 12V, the 30 dBA mark is passed, and in no case does the output noise go over 35 dBA.

Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C – 230V

At 230V, the fan speed profile is identical to that at 115V. There is a small region with a load below 50W at 12V and minimal load on the minor rails, where the fan’s noise is within the 25-30 dBA range. This is because I have pushed the minor rails to their maximum before, so the fan’s speed takes a while to drop to lower speeds (and lower noise).
