Huntkey is a long-standing Chinese OEM with extensive experience in power electronics and desktop PC power supplies. Its PSU designs are primarily cost-driven, often targeting mainstream and OEM systems rather than the enthusiast segment. While Huntkey has the technical capability to produce higher-efficiency platforms, most of its desktop PSU designs prioritize affordability and broad compatibility over advanced electrical or acoustic performance.

So far, Huntkey has not had any major presence outside China, for many years now, after its attempt to infiltrate the Western market under its own brand name failed. But with MSI now in its client list, things could change. The platform’s PCB appears to belong to a lower-capacity unit, as it is notably underpopulated with parts. On the other hand, airflow will be good, but the lack of large heatsinks on the secondary side will require increased airflow.

On the primary side, we find an APFC converter, a half-bridge topology, and an LLC resonant converter. The secondary side employs synchronous rectification for the 12V rail and DC-DC converters for the minor rails. The soldering quality is good. To lower the cost, Huntkey avoids using Japanese-branded capacitors. That said, Elite and CapXon are ok. My only objection is to the fan, which is of low quality.

The transient filtering stage contains all the necessary components to block both incoming and outgoing EMI emissions. Typically, it starts at the AC receptacle and continues on the main PCB.

There is an MOV to protect from voltage surges and an NTC thermistor with a resistance of 5 ohms. Moreover, a bypass relay supports the NTC thermistor.

Two PingWei GBU2510 bridge rectifiers are used. Typically, they split the current in half to reduce power losses.

The APFC converter uses two Toshiba TK39N60W FETs and a single WeEn Semiconductor WNSC6D06650 boost diode. SamXon manufactures the bulk capacitor. Its capacity is 680 μF, and it is rated for 2,000 hours at 105°C. The voltage rating is 450V, which is notably higher than the APFC’s DC bus voltage (approximately 380-400V DC).

The combo APFC/LLC controller is an NXP HKP6288AT.

Two Silan SVSP60R090HD4 primary-switching FETs are used in a half-bridge topology, and an LLC resonant converter is employed to enhance efficiency.

The PSU’s main transformer. One of its main functions is to electrically isolate the primary and secondary sides.

Six Alpha & Omega AONS66402 FETs regulate the 12V rail.

Two DC-DC converters generate the minor rails. They use four Toshiba TPH1R403NL FETs. The PWM controllers are a single ANPEC APW7159C.

CapXon and Elite provide the electrolytic capacitors. Capcon and Polycap brands make the polymer capacitors. There’s another brand I couldn’t identify.

You can find more information about capacitor performance and other specs below:

The rectifiers of the standby rail are a pair of 360L The standby PWM controller is IN2P380C.

Several polymers and a single electrolytic cap at the face of the modular panel form an extra ripple-filtering layer.

The supervisor IC is a Infsitronix IN1T703I-SDG (PG, UVP, OVP, OCP, SCP).

The soldering quality is good.

The cooling fan is a Yate Loon D12SH-12 with a sleeve bearing. I am not fond of Yate Loon fans.
