Green Medel GP1000B-EDGE ATX v3.1 PSU Review

Average Noise

The average noise is below 30 dBA, which is a good sign, but let’s examine the unit’s noise maps in detail.

Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C – 115V

The semi-passive operation lasts up to 180W, and the load on the minor rails doesn’t significantly affect the fan’s passive operation. At up to 400W load, the fan’s noise is kept below 6 dBA. With up to 480W at 12V, noise is kept below 20 dBA. You have to push the PSU at above 670W at 12V to enter the 30-35 dBA region, and with more than 790W, you enter the 40-45 dbA region.

Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C – 230V

The 230V fan speed profile has small differences from the 115V one. The unit’s silent operation is slightly extended from 400W to 415W. Nonetheless, the >40 dBA operation lasts longer. This is why the 230V average noise output is slightly higher than the 115V.
